KEEP AN EYE ON TIMING!
STEP 1 - IMPRESSION TRAY
Select the correct sized impression tray out of the two provided. It should be able to fit in your mouth with your teeth biting fully on the tray and not touching the inside edges.
STEP 2 - 60 SECONDS
Wash your hands and remove the contents of one tub of each coloured putty and mix in your hands until they become one uniform colour. The other pots of putty are spare.
Ensure this stage is done within 60 seconds.
STEP 3 - 30 SECONDS
Once the putty has become one uniform colour, roll it into a short, fat sausage shape and place around the inside of the selected impression tray.
Try to leave approximately 1.5-2cm of space towards the back of the tray to allow the putty to spread and form around your back teeth.
Ensure this stage is done within 30 seconds - you will need a mirror for the next stage.
STEP 4 - 3 MINUTES
Use two hands to insert the impression tray into your mouth, pushing it up over the top set of teeth with one straight movement until your teeth just touch the base of the tray. Make sure your teeth do not touch the inside edge of the tray and you are pushing the tray up over the back teeth as well as the front teeth.
Pull your top lip over the outside of the tray and hold in place, whilst gently sucking the putty to your teeth for 3 minutes.
STEP 5 - REMOVING THE IMPRESSION
After 3 minutes, use a gentle rocking motion to remove the tray from your mouth. Keeping the putty in the tray, check that it shows a clean impression using the pictures provided here as an example.
Goold impressions are deep (high to the gum line) and show all the teeth clearly.
If it is a good impression, rinse it out gently with cold water and leave to dry naturally. If it is a bad impression, remove the putty from the tray and repeat the process with the spare pots of putty.
If both attempts are unsuccessful, more putty can be purchased from here.
STEP 6 - POSTING THE IMPRESSION
When the impression is dry, place the tray (including the putty) into the clear bag provided and return to us along with any unused trays and putty.
You should receive your guard within 10 days of us receiving your impression.
